30 Days of Dominance: Day 14

Thoughts on Religion and BDSM

Today’s discussion questions: Does religion have any bearing on your Dominance or the way you expect your partner/s to submit? If not, are you familiar with religious based submission and do you view it as similar to other types of submission or dissimilar?

Religion does not have a bearing on my Dominance. I don’t see why it would either. I was raised in a very strict Christian home and have identified as an eclectic pagan for the last twenty years. I believe in and pray to old gods.

Religious based submission, huh? I’ll admit, I had to research some on this topic. The Bible advocates domestic discipline and leans pretty heavily towards a Taken in Hand domestic relationship. Most of the Christians I personally know are vehemently against BDSM, but online I’ve met quite a few that are all for domestic discipline. Ephesians 5:22-24 sounds like endorsing the ideals of a loving Dominant to me, and that’s just one of the many references to submission and the traditional roles of man and woman in the Bible.”Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.”

  1. I identify as Pagan too and it plays a part in how I view my role in this world. Pagans follow and celebrate the changing seasons, the balances between light and dark, warm and cold. Most importantly, the crucial balance between masculine and feminine. It reminds me to be proud of my femininity, in my role beside my husband. It reminds me that I am not lessened by my submission to him, but that I fit perfectly in line with him, and we strengthen each other. To be clear, I don’t think these roles are defined by our biological gender, just which of the energies we identify with 🙂
